A massive congratulations to all at Microsoft Game Studios this evening as it has been revealed that Sea of Thieves has been played by more than 10 million players!
That huge figure is across the Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass and PC, which reinforces its status as the most successful new IP for Xbox Game Studios. Speaking about the success, Executive Producer Joe Neate stated via a blog post:
For everyone at Rare, the Sea of Thieves community represents the very best of what gaming can be. It’s home to players from more than eighty different countries, bringing together gamers on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One and Windows 10 PC and creating countless stories and moments that people can treasure. Seeing these stories shared through social media or other community spaces is something that inspires the team every day. To every person who’s played Sea of Thieves, thank you.
Next week on January 15th will also see the release of the monthly update for Sea of Thieves. This update will feature a celebration of the game’s community, and players can log-in between January 15 and 22 to claim a limited-edition custom sail and emote for free in commemoration of the 10 million player milestone.
